Alan Whicker looks back on his first ten years in television.

Mrs Spcarman-Cooke alias the Lord Maitreya; Mrs Spalding -Steele who claimed marriage with the spirit of Bernard Shaw ; Dr Chang and his spirit operations in Hove. Whicker filmed them all in the 60s. Further afield, the Caribbean cult of the Pocomaniacs and the primitive witchcraft of Guatemalan Indians were much more frightening.

When an alien spaceship crashes in the Arctic wastes, a nearby army unit attempts to save the craft before it sinks beneath the surface. All they save is an eight-foot-high creature.... In captivity the 'thing' is found to live on blood and to be capable of self-multiplying. It is also seemingly indestructible and ready to take over the world.
