Jazz Scene: At the Ronnie Scott Club

A series of weekly programmes featuring some of Britain's top jazz artists at Europe's Number 1 Jazz Club
Tonight
The Graham Collier Sextet
Stan Sultzman (saxophone), Nick Evans (trombone), Harold Beckett (flugelhorn), Karl Jenkins (piano, oboe), Graham Collier (bass), John Marshall (drums)
Bass player Graham Collier was the first British musician to win a scholarship to, and graduate from, the Berklee School of Music in Boston, USA.In 1967 he obtained an Arts Council bursary to compose an extended work for jazz orchestra called Workpoints. Tonight he features mostly material from his recent Lp Down Another Road, one item of which features an exciting solo by the group's pianist, Karl Jenkins, on an unusual double - the oboe.

Jazz Scene at the Ronnie Scott Club

A series of weekly programmes featuring some of Britain's top jazz artists at Europe's No 1 Jazz Club
Tonight:
The Kenny Baker - George Chisholm All-Stars
Kenny Baker (trumpet), George Chisholm (trombone), Tony Coe (tenor saxophone), Lennie Felix (piano), Lennie Bush (bass), Bobby Orr (drums)

In these days of more organised groups it is not often that musicians have a chance to play together informally in what is better known as a 'jam session.' Tonight's musicians are well used to this type of get-together, having a vast experience in jazz music to call upon. Incidentally, this session is entirely spontaneous; only the tunes they play have been decided before the cameras recorded the session.
Introduced by Ronnie Scott

Jazz Scene

at the Ronnie Scott Club
Presenting each week some of the international jazz stars recorded at Europe's Number One Jazz Club.

Tonight Ronnie Scott introduces: The Gary Burton Quartet, The Stars of Faith,
The Miles Davis Quintet
Gary Burton is a vibraphone player of staggering virtuosity whose quartet reflects the way that jazz and pop are beginning to overlap. The Stars of Faith are an exciting group of black Gospel singers and Miles Davis is simply one of the most adventurous and inventive musicians in the world.
(All artists appear by arrangement with Harold Davison Ltd)

About this project

This site contains the BBC listings information which the BBC printed in Radio Times between 1923 and 2009. You can search the site for BBC programmes, people, dates and Radio Times editions.

We hope it helps you find information about that long forgotten BBC programme, research a particular person or browse your own involvement with the BBC.

Through the listings, you will also be able to use the Genome search function to find thousands of radio and TV programmes that are already available to view or listen to on the BBC website.

There are more than 5 million programme listings in Genome. This is a historical record of the planned output and the BBC services of any given time. It should be viewed in this context and with the understanding that it reflects the attitudes and standards of its time - not those of today.

To read scans of the Radio Times magazines from the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s, you can navigate by issue.

About this project

Welcome to BBC Genome

Genome is a digitised version of the Radio Times from 1923 to 2009 and is made available for internal research purposes only. You will need to obtain the relevant third party permissions for any use, including use in programmes, online etc.

This internal version of Genome, which includes all the magazine covers, images and articles as well as the programme listings from the Radio Times, is different to the version of BBC Genome that is available externally/to the public. It is only available inside the BBC network.

Your use of this version of Genome is covered by the BBC Acceptable Use of Information Systems Policy and these terms.
