In the first of two programmes Roger Clark talks to television and radio's most controversial and outspoken interviewer about his life and career. He describes his school days, his student life at Oxford, training as a lawyer and his first job in television as a news-caster for ITN. He talks about developing new styles of television journalism and interviewing and his time as a reporter. Robin Day also recalls interviewing President Nasser after the Suez affair before Britain and Egypt re-established diplomatic relations, an encounter with Jayne Mansfield, his first meeting with Richard Dimbleby and being sacked from Panorama.
