The third of the new Music Hall programmes promises to keep well up to the level of its predecessors. Nelson Keys , broadcasting for the first time since the Radiolympia revue, brings a familiar personality and new material. Hetty King, most virile of male impersonators, is another broadcasting favourite of long standing. A very welcome newcomer to the microphone is that grand Cockney comedian, Charles Austin ; since the sight of a dismantled police station for sale in Shoreditch in 1908 gave him the idea, his famous sketch, ' P.C. Parker,' has been running continuously. It was first presented on May 18, 1908, at Collins's Music Hall, Islington, and it holds ' capacity' records for that house, the Surrey Theatre, and the Empire, Edmonton; Parker's ' cut-price' Police Station, complete with Inspector, Sergeant, Gouty Man and Murderer enters on a new era of popularity tonight. Scott and Whaley, remembered by their successes in The Kentucky Minstrels broadcasts, contribute the clever cross-talk without which no music-hall programme would be complete. The standard of straight duet singing set by this series is well maintained by Robert Naylor , the musical comedy star, and Josie Fearon. Alec McGill and Gwen Vaughan , chattering cheerfully to an irrelevant piano, are invariably good value. The singing and dancing of the Eight Step Sisters, a departure heartily endorsed by the majority of listeners, give the bill the right music-hall temperature, aided and abetted by the B.B.C. Theatre Orchestra.
