Professor Lattimore, American expert on China, is now at Leeds University to establish its Department of Chinese Studies. He spent some years of his childhood in China and has made many prolonged visits to China and Central Asia during the last thirty-five years. He talks about the way in which American attitudes towards China have influenced developments.
