A dramatic poem by Robert Browning.
An abridged version in nine parts
Peggy Ashcroft as 'Pompilia'

Browning presents Pompilia on her death-bed, as she 'endeavours to explain her life' to Fra Celestino, her confessor. She turns from the horrors of the past to the glory of her faith in God revealed in Caponsacchi, the man who saved her to bear her child Gaetano, born a fortnight before the murder.
