Caponsacchi, canon of the church et Santa Maria della Pieve in Arezzo, accompanied Pompilia when she fled from her husband in April 1697 and was consigned to three years' relegation at Civita Vecchia for complicity in the flight. He wu brought back to Rome after the murder and at the request of the Court of the Governor retells the story of his part in tas affair.
