The Newquay Town Silver Prize Band was formed in 1919 for the peace celebrations and at that time consisted of fifteen players. Later the band, assisted by a grant from the local council, purchased a new set of instruments and appointed a conductor. The band has competed at the Crystal Palace, and under its present conductor, W. E. Moyle , won the West of England Cham pionship, Class B, in 1934 and 1937.
