The Griller String Quartet:
Sydney Griller (violin) ,
Jack O'Brien (violin)
Philip Burton (viola)
Colin Hampdon (violoncello) from the Manor Hall, Bristol
. University
The University of Bristol, from which this concert comes, occupies a commanding position at the top of Park Street, and the University Tower, which rises to a height of two hundred feet, can be seen for miles around. There are other buildings connected with the University in outlying residential districts of Bristol, however. Two eighteenth-century mansions, the Royal Fort in Tyndall's Park, which dates back in history to the Civil War, and Clifton Hill House, once the home of John Addington Symonds, are also in the possession of the University. The Manor Hall, which is close to
Clifton Hill House and is a Hall of Residence, was erected by the University from the proceeds of a legacy from the late Mr. H. H. Wills.
