Backwell Parish Church, dedicated to St. Andrew, occupies a position on the side of Backwell Hill, and the stately tower with its background of trees and meadows is a landmark for many miles around. The tower was built in the fifteenth century, but the higher stages appear to be somewhat later in date than the lower ones.
