THE USE OF LEISURE—

Regional Programme Northern Ireland

Sydney S. Griffith
Sydney Griffith , author of the Monmouthshire novel Little Calvary , recently set out to gain fresh experience by turning tramp and footing it from one casual ward to another. His talk gives an insight into a world of which most people catch only glimpses.
One tramp whom he met used to amuse the casual wards with a story of one of his brethren who knocked at the door of a woman's house. After hearing the usual hard-luck tale she gave him sixpence and said: ' I suppose you'll spend it on drink! ' Thanks very much. mum ', said the tramp, ' I will if you insist.'

Johnny King, British Bantam-weight Champion v. Len Beynon, Featherweight Champion of Wales
A commentary by C.B. Thomas and Wynford Vaughan Thomas from the Mannesman Hall, Swansea
The boxers will be interviewed before the fight by S.J. Wignall.
Every Welsh boxing 'fan' will be agog to hear the result of this fight, in which Len Beynon, born and bred in Swansea, will try to climb another rung of the ladder to a world title. Even his staunchest supporters, however, will agree that in Johnny King he is meeting a very formidable opponent indeed.
