Hymn, Stand up and bless the Lord The organ of St. Asaph Cathedral was built in 1834, modemised in 1898 and completely overhauled in 1932 It consists of four manuals and fortv-two speaking stops. There have been some past organists of St.
Asaph who are now distinguished, notably Sir Hugh Allen Dr.
A. W. Wilson (Manchester Cathedral), and Dr Cyril B. Rootham (St. John s,
Cambridge). The present organist,
Dr H. C. L. Stocks , has held the appointment for twenty years.
The choir, consisting of six lay clerks and seventeen boys, the latter all being drawn from St. Asaph itself, was privileged to send two boys to sing in the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey.
