An extravagant symphony in one movement for five bassoons, eleven actors, and orchestra
Composed by John Gough and Ian Whyte
Taking part
Bassoons: G. Holbrooke, E. Worsley, A.T. Wood, E.W. Vickerstaffe, J.H. Lindsay
Actors: Ian Sadler, Weston Fields, R.C. Stewart, Halbert Tatlock, Jean Jacques Oberlin, Peter Moyes, Pearl Colquhoun, Campbell Robson, Charles Watson, W.L. Hunter, W.H.D. Joss and the BBC Scottish Orchestra

There has been a great deal of secrecy and much chuckling in Edinburgh's Broadcasting House over this feature programme. John Gough, the producer, and Ian Whyte, Music Director, have been collaborating in whispers for several weeks, and refusing all requests from colleagues for information. It seems that somewhere in Scotland there is a huge industrial plant for manufacturing bassoons. This programme will be an imposing documentary effort describing it.
