The Palace of Engineering
A short description of the building and contents and interviews with some of the officials by P. I. Keith Murray from the Empire Exhibition (Scotland)
The Exhibition's largest building. the Palace of Engineering, has been designed to illustrate the romance of iron and steel and contains exhibits ranging from nails to enormous engines. As may be expected at a Clydeside Exhibition, one section is devoted to models of the ships that have made the name of the river famous in every port of the world.
The Pavilion forms the westerly wall of the Exhibition greatest promenade--the broad expanse formed by Dominions Avenue and Colonial Avenue, which are separated by an artificial lake. At the other end of this promenade is another large Pavilion, one of the two Palaces of Industry.
P. I. Keith Murray , who is well known to listeners for his lively and informative outside broadcasts, was an engineer before he joined the programme staff of the BBC in Scotland. He is carrying out two hundred outside broadcasts from the Empire Exhibition, and it is not surprising that some people have suggested he should have a Pavilion at Bellahouston Park all to himself.
