Ethel McLean (soprano)
Harry Brodie (tenor)
Harry Brodie , one of the two soloists in this recital, was intimately associated with the launching of the Edinburgh Opera Company, and sang the tenor rôles in Faust, Carmen, Il Trovatore , I Pagliacci, and Cavalleria Rusticana. His father was a baritone singer well known in the North of England. Brodie himself is a native of Edinburgh. As a boy he appeared in a number of concerts, and, after studying at the Guildhall School of Music, appeared first on the Variety stage, and then joined a touring opera company.

(New Series-Second Edition)
An up-to-date sound-strip compiled and arranged at the eleventh hour by a battery of writers and musicians who present to you a series of light-hearted commentaries on the News of the Day
Scottish Radio Cartoon is notable as being one of the few radio features prepared at the last moment. As it makes play with the news of the day, the writers have to wait until the eleventh hour in order that they may discover just what the news is. Then they get off their jackets, roll up their sleeves, and, under the eye of Robin Russell , sit down to their work.

by John Pullein from Glasgow Cathedral
John Pullein is one of several organists who play in Scotland but were born in England. He was a choir-boy in the Cathedral of Lincoln, his native city, and after holding the post of organist and choirmaster at several English parish churches he came to St. Mary's Cathedral in Glasgow. He has published a great deal of organ and church music.
