Sung by Archie Armstrong (baritone)
(Stagshaw Programme)
Archie Armstrong, who lives at Whitley Bay, Northumberland, and is an artist very well known on Tyneside, was one of the earliest broadcasters from Newcastle. Ever since the days of the first studio in Eldon Square he has been on the air regularly. During the last year or two his activities have been concentrated on folk-song research, recitals, and lecturing. Northumbrian folk songs are a speciality of his; so are the songs of Finland, some of which he is singing in this evening's programme. He went to Finland by invitation last year to give at Helsinki a recital of British folk songs, which were broadcast throughout the country, and in Norway on the way home he sang at Oslo.
