at the Organ of the Capitol Cinema, Didsbury
Barrie Brettoner is Yorkshire-born, but from the age of twelve lived in Australia. He did not belie his early promise, and carried all before him in Australia, where successful tours of the 'Wonder Boy Organist' were the prelude to a triumphal tour of New Zealand, and subsequent return home to England with a New Zealand bride. It is on this extended honeymoon that our cinemas have held him here. He is a very experienced broadcaster, still retains the habit of hard practice, and has all the arts of performing successfully in public.

'Violas'
W. E. Shewell-Cooper and J. S. Jackson
J. S. Jackson , who comes before the microphone with W. E. Shewell-Cooper tonight, grows violas successfully in the bleak borderland of Cheshire and Derbyshire. He is village postmaster, too. He has won prizes for his violas everywhere, is in great demand as a judge at principal shows, and shows his flowers all over the country. He and W. E. Shewell-Cooper have worked together on the control of pests and diseases for some years, but in this talk they will discuss the best ways of growing violas for bedding and exhibition. Both hope for the extended use of this lovely flower.

A programme of gramophone records
Arranged and presented by T. L. Spencer
As the title of this programme suggests, this selection of records will present music of a kind that banishes melancholy and heaviness. T. L. Spencer , who comes from Bury in Lancashire, has played several principal parts in amateur stage productions in Bury, Rochdale, and Bolton. He presented a gramophone-record selection to Northern listeners, in the ' Personal Choice ' series, in November, 1936.
