A New Radio Play by J.M. HENTHORN based on a short story by Charles Dickens
Cast :
Bill, an engine driver CARTER LIVESEY
Produced by JAN BUSSELL
The Mysterv of the Cutting is based on 'Branch Line No. i ', a short story by Charles Dickens , one of the authors few excursions into the supernatural.
The story was one of the series of linked tales revolving around Mugby
Junction ' in one of the famous Christmas Numbers of Household Words. The story has a Northern setting, and the tense almost blood-curdling, atmosphere of the lonely railway cutting is one that should lend itself well to reproduction by radio.
