Relayed from
THE WINTER GARDENS,
MORECAMBE
Tonight a relay is to be heard from one of the largest theatres in the North, situated in Morecambe's famous Winter Gardens, open and gay all the year round. Here Camera boxed when he was world champion; here there are regular weekly boxing Thursdays ; the world dances to Norman Robinson and his Alexandrians; and Variety is presented every night in the theatre, and frequently broadcast.
Broadcasts from music-halls are always popular with listeners ; something of the carefree atmosphere gets over. The orchestra, the acts, the laughter and applause. And tonight listeners all over the North, and indeed all over England, may sit at home and yet spend three-quarters of an hour in the theatre at one of Lancashire's most popular holiday resorts.
It is hoped that they may hear
Master James Phelan , who was specially chosen as solo vocalist for the audience of 20,000 at the Hyde Park Jubilee celebrations ; Bertini and Clarke, in their popular act, ' Fiddling Round the World ' ; and Louis Almaer , The King of the Harmonica '.
