Distillery, the first club to introduce professional Association football into Ireland, and one of the most famous clubs in the Irish League, is the subject of tonight's talk by Dr. T. E. Hill, chairman of the club. Founded in 1879, Distillery has nearly sixty years of football history to look back on. It owes its name to the fact that originally most of its players were engaged in the celebrated distillery in Belfast.
One of the club's greatest achievements was in 1905 when they won the Cup without having a single goal scored against them. Tomorrow Raymond Glendenning will broadcast a commentary on the last half-hour of the club's match against Bangor.
