Roland Powell, who is the director of a group of dance bands and light orchestras, has been in the musical profession since his first public appearance at the age of fifteen as a cellist. At one time he was a professor of music at Leeds, and for several years was director of bands for a group of hotels in England and Scotland. During this time he worked a good deal with Henry Hall.
