'Coastal Ride, 1883'
Lloyd Campbell
Not least among the sights of Portrush is the antiquated electric railway that skirts Antrim's lovely coast road from the seaside resort to that geological wonder, the Giant's Causeway. It is a strange sing'e-track narrow-gauge tramway-cum-railway, which still carries passengers.
Fifty years ago it was a pioneer venture of which Ulster was justly proud, for it was the first railway in the world to use hydro-electric power. In his talk tonight Lloyd Campbell will have some amusing recollections of this railway to tell.
