Rutherford Mayne introduces the Festival with some scenes from plays to be performed. Among the plays from which excerpts will be taken are:
The Drone by Rutherford Mayne
John Ferguson by St. John Ervine
Insurance Money by George Shiels
Mrs. McConaghy's Money by Hugh Quinn
The Family Portrait by John Coulter
For the six weeks beginning mid-September and ending on October 31, two revivals of successful Ulster radio plays will be broadcast each week. These twelve plays have been chosen from those broadcast in Northern Ireland ever since the station at Belfast first opened in 1924. It has naturally not been possible to include all the plays worthy of revival, but these twelve have been chosen from among those acclaimed successful on their first production.
Tonight listeners are offered a short trailer ' of what they will hear.
