An appeal on behalf of White Park Bay Preservation Fund by J. G. Calvert, Chairman of the Fund Committee
White Park Bay, one of Ulster's beauty spots on the Antrim coast, is in danger of spoliation. It is flanked at one end by the dins of the famous Giant's Causeway, and at the other by the lovely village of Ballintoy with the near-by swinging rope-bridge of Carrick-a-Rede.
The Youth Hostel Association of
Northern Ireland has inaugurated a scheme to purchase the bay for the National Trust. The greater part if it can be bought for about tl.250. provided the present owner is allowed to farm it during his lifetime. Towards this sum the Pilgrim Trust has already given £500, leaving about £750 to be raised by public subscription. It is for contributions towards this amount that J.G. Calvert is appealing tonight.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged, and should bp addressed to [address removed]
