Edmond Letts (baritone) from the Pump Room, Leamington
Spa
For several years Jan Berenska had a quartet which performed at Leamington. In 1933 his orchestra of fifteen instrumentalists began a series of regular concerts, many of which have been broadcast.
Berenska himself was well known on the air in the very early days of broadcasting. He was a pupil of Albert Sammons , and at the age of fifteen he gave a recital at Birmingham Town Hall.
Edmond Letts , who is to sing two groups of songs in this programme, is a Walsall singer. His father was one of the founders of the Walsall
Harmonic Society.

An appeal on behalf of THE NOTTINGHAM POOR BOYS' AND
GIRLS' CONVALESCENT HOME by A. C. RADFORD
These homes at Skegness are organised by the Nottingham Poor Girls' and Boys' Camp Society, which was established in 1889. The Society also has a girls' club in Nottingham. Last year it gave twelve hundred children the benefit of a fortnight at the sea.
Those who have been helped by the organisation remember it with gratitude all their lives. An instance of this, as romantic as anything to be found in a fairy tale, occurred in 1932, when Alderman William Green, then Lord Mayor of Nottingham, visited the Homes with the Lady Mayoress. Forty years before, when he was a poor boy, he had received help-from the Society.
The Marchioness of Titchfield is president of the Society, and its honorary secretaries, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Swain, have a long record of valuable service.
