' A visit to Weobley'
A programme arranged by David Gretton
The Herefordshire town of Weobley, not far from the Wye and on the point of a triangle with Leominster and Hereford, is known to the tourist as one of the best examples of the half-timbered black-and-white work of Tudor and Jacobean times. The town has a fine old church, the remains of a castle, and in the neighbourhood some fine old manor houses.
The old Market House was the residence of Tompkins, a great figure in local history, who originated the Herefordshire breed of cattle two hundred years ago.
