The programme arranged and produced by JAMES LUDOVICI and DAVID GRETTON
Market Drayton is the centre of an agricultural district in North Shropshire. Its market dates from 1245. The old manorial customs are still maintained at an annual Court Leet. The church and the Grammar School (founded by Sir Rowland Hill, Lord Mayor of London in 1558), both had associations with the boyhood of Clive of India. In the parish the battle of Blore Heath was waged; the place where the Lancastrian leader Audley, was slain, is marked with a cross.
