The Story of the Gunpowder Plot
Dramatised by F. R. BUCKLEY
The cast includes
STANLEY ILLESLEY, HUGH MORTON , CYRIL WRIGHT , CEDRIC JOHNSON , WORTLEY ALLEN , GODFREY BASELEY ,
STUART VINDEN , WILLIAM HUGHES
Produced by OWEN REED
Many of the important episodes in the Gunpowder Plot were associated with the Midlands. It was the severe laws against Catholics that induced Catesby, who was a Northamptonshire man, and other Catholics living in the Midlands, to formulate the plot. A number of the conspirators meeting at Huddington, near Droitwich, received the news that the plot was discovered, and fled north. They made their last stand at Holbeche House, near Himley, and it was from there that most of the episodes in F. R. Buckley 's play were relayed last Guy Fawkes day.
The author is Cinema Critic of the Birmingham Despatch, has written several novels; and won the 0. Henry prize for short stories in America.
