Leslie Lewis was the first xylophone soloist to broadcast from a Birmingham cinema. That was in 1928. He played percussion in the City of Birmingham Orchestra when Dr. Adrian Boult conducted, and is still a member of its percussion section. He has broadcast in the .Western as well as the Midland programme.
