GEOFFREY DAMS had his first musical appointment at the age of ten, when ho obtained a place in the chapel choir at the Conference Hall P.M. Chapel, at Small Heath, Birmingham. Later, at one week's notice, he was promoted to the bass section and took solos on his first Sunday. His second transition took place during the War. When the battalion concert party had no vacancy for a bass, Mr. Dams obligingly became a tenor. He has sung tenor rôles in The Immortal Hour,' The Seal Woman, and other operas.
