Leader, Aldo Spiero from the Hotel Victoria
The popular conductor of the Hotel Victoria Orchestra was born at The Hague and began his musical career ai the age of nine at the Royal Conservatoire there. When he was seventeen he became a member of the celebrated Residence Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Viotta.
He stayed there for nine winter seasons playing under a number of distinguished guest conductors.
From The Hague, Aldo Spiero came to London to conduct at the King's Picture Playhouse, Chelsea, in the old silent days. He was then appointed leader of the Royal Roumanian Band in Blackpool, where he became a naturalised British subject. He was musical director for the Blackpool Tower Company for twelve years and was the first conductor to broadcast from the top of the Tower with his orchestra. With the advent of the talkies, he came to London and the Hotel Victoria.

The Heavyweight Championship of Great Britain
Len Harvey v. Eddie Phillips
A commentary on the fight by Thomas Woodrooffe and W. Barrington Dalby from Harringay Arena
When they meet tonight to contest the Heavyweight Championship of Great Britain, Len Harvey and Eddie Phillips will find themselves facing each other in the ring for the fourth time. When they first met, the fight was a draw, and Harvey has won in both the subsequent contests. It is interesting to note that previously the men have met as cruiserweights, whereas tonight they will fight as heavyweights proper.
