MR. CHRISTOPHER DAWSON is a Catholic, and the author of several books of importance on spiritual and religious matters, including ' A Monument to St. Augustine,' ' Christianity and the New Age,' ' The Age of the Gods ' and ' Christianity and Sex.' Of his most important work, ' Progress and Religion,' Doan Inge wrote ' a great work, one of the best that we have had in recent years.' He is to give four talks in the ' Modem Dilemma' series, to which this talk forms an introduction.
