A talk by J. R. DE S. HONEY
University Lecturer in Education, Durham University
G. C. Coulton said that the tradition of Arnold's Rugby was probably the greatest educational movement in nineteenth-century Europe. That movement turned crucially upon a certain concept of the role of the headmaster. How far were Arnold's successors able to meet the demands it imposed. and are we right in groping after a different role for the head-masters of the giant schools of today?
Mr. Honey considers these Questions in the light of a new history of Rugby itself.
