An appeal on behalf of THE ROYAL HOSPITAL AND HOME
FOR INCURABLES, PUTNEY by GEOFFREY GILBEY
The work of this national charity deals only with cases of disease for which as yet medical science has been unable to find a cure. In the hospital itself 250 patients of both sexes are provided with medical care and nursing, while, in addition, nearly 600 incurable invalids are given pensions for life to enable them to procure relief in their own homes. For each of these classes there is always a long waiting list, and more than E56,000 a year is needed to meet present commitments. Since the nature of its work is not the cure but the permanent care of its patients, the hospital does not qualify for any grant from King Edward's or other central hospital fund and cannot economise by closing wards for, once accepted, its patients remain for life.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged, and should be addressed to Geoffrey Gilbey , Esq., [address removed]
