The Freedom of the Press
Kenneth Adam
On March 23, 1936, news was published that a well-known French journalist had been sent to prison in Paris on a charge of incitement to murder in the ' Action Francaise' Since then the libel law in France has been tightened up. This afternoon Kenneth Adam will talk about the law of libel as it affects newspapers in France, Britain, and elsewhere. From this he will go on to deal with the general question of the freedom of the Press. How much can a newspaper be allowed to print? How far is the Press entitled to intrude in private lives ?
