GENERAL HIGGINS was elected General of the Salvation Army in 1929 in succession to W. Bramwell Booth. He has held many positions in evangelical and staff work since he joined the Army in 1882. He was Chief Secretary, U.S.A., for nine years, Commissioner for Field Work, Great Britain, for eight years, and Chief of Staff for the ten years prior to his election as General. He has jnsb returned from a world tour of the Sulvation Army branches.

-L ing as being the first occasion on which a British heavy-weight champion has defended his title since the retirement of Phil Scott. It may also mark another stage in the meteoric career of Jack Petersen , the young ex-amateur from Cardiff, who only recently won the British cruiser-weight title after an unusually short and brilliant progress through the professional ranks. Alternatively, it will confirm Reggie Meen in the title that he won in a stern battle with Charlie Smith.
