THIS quartet dates from 1910, by which year Frank Bridge was well on his way to his present position as one of Britain's leading chamber music composers. He had already gained two prizes in the famous Cobbett. competitions', and had so won the confidence of Mr.
Cobbett that this work was one of twelve ho deanitoly commissioned from aa many British composers. It is regarded as the finest of the whole twelve.
