Speeches by Alderman SAMUEL CLOWES, M.P., J.P.
(President of the Infirmary)
A Prayer, read by The Bishop OF LICHFIELD, followed by a Hymn
THE foundation-stone of the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary was laid in 1863 by King Edward, then Prince of Wales, and that of the new wing, which Prince Henry will open today, was laid by the K ng and Queen in June, 1925. This new extension gives the Infirmary a total of 346 beds.
After the Hymn has' been sung the Prince, accompanied by his host, Lord Harrowby, who is Lord-Lieutenant of the County, will open and inspect the new wards and the new wing of the Nurses' Home. If time permits he will also inspect part of the old infirmary and review some war pensioners attending the orthopaedic department.
