Bob has been approached by Tom Draycott with regard to a possible tie-up with Exton Tinplate. Grandfather Dale has been having a difficult time at 29 Calverts as Flora has gone to bed with bronchitis. He is trying to cope with some of the chores when Mrs. Freeman returns, with Captain, and announces her intention to stay. She promptly develops an attack of lumbago, so Grandfather Dale finds himself looking after two invalids. Meantime he has been trying to persuade Carlton to return to Scotland.
