Dr. Tracey is Director of the International Library of African Music in South Africa, and has spent much of his life in recording and analysing the music of African peoples from the Sahara to the Cape. In this talk, illustrated from his collection of recordings, he argues that African music is the clearest evidence of the validity of a specifically African personality and culture.
