Late in the summer of 1940 Hitler ordered the bombing of London. and for fifty-seven consecutive nights between September 7 and November 2 the Luftwaffe attacked the city with high explosive and incendiaries. Thereafter, for a further six months. London was bombed heavily and often. In this programme men and women describe what it was like to be in London during the winter of the bombs.
