by Leonard Clark
Leonard Clark remembers his grandfather as a remarkable personality. ' When I was a small boy he initiated me into the mysteries of mushroom-gathering, whistle-making, trout-tickling, and cricket. He left school before he was eleven years of age and went bird-scaring at threepence a day.' He spent three years in Mexico, helping to build the Mexican State Railways, and ever after was known to his friends as Mexico.'
