Higher Farming for Higher Profits by Sir James A. Scott Watson C.B.E., LL.D ,
.
Chief Scientific and Agricultural Adviser, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries
There are real difficulties in the way of a further expansion of home food production. In some cases the chief obstacle is a shortage of workers or of suitable housing. In others it may be lack of working capital. Getting the extra return per acre may not be easy, but it can be profitable.

Sonata in C sharp minor, Op. 27 No. 2 (Moonlight)
Bagatelles, Op. 126:
No. 1 in G; No. 2 in G minor
No. 3 in E Hart
Thirty-two Variations in C minor played by Julius Kaitchen (piano)
A series of programmes which will include Beethoven's thinty-two piano sonaitas
The title of ' Moonlight' was not given to the Sonata in C sharp minor by Beethoven; he described it, together with its fellow, (Op. 27 No. 1, as 'Sonata quasi fantasia,' thereby indicating its divergence from the normal conventions of sonata form. The divergence is to be found entirely in the improvisatory, almost impressionistic character of the first movement, which earned the sonata its romantic name.
The brilliant variations in C minor are based on the Chaconne principle, being elaborations of the basic harmonies of the theme. The Bagatelles (from the last set, written shortly after the Ninth Symphony) are perhaps best described as musical aphorisms Deryck Cooke
