Aberglasney. Chris Beardshaw is in Towy, Carmarthenshire, to visit a 17th-century cloister garden nicknamed "the Garden Lost in Time". The restoration process being carried out is inspired by the medieval idea of the "enamelled mead" - blocks of grass studded with low-growing flowers. When Lord Mountbatten was blown up aboard his boat on 27 August 1979 while holidaying in the Republic of Ireland, the most complex IRA operation undertaken since the beginning of the Troubles was revealed, Improvements in bomb-making technology enabled massive explosives to be detonated remotely, as the co-ordinated attack on the same day that killed 18 British soldiers also demonstrated. Here, General Sir Michael Jackson , former IRA volunteers and the RUC officers who investigated the Warrenpoint bombing provide testimony to the sophistication of the IRA's methods and the devastation that resulted.
