A Day at the Races. Clarissa Dickson Wright and the late Jennifer Paterson head to Kelso on the Scottish Borders where, at the invitation of the Duke of Roxburghe, they create culinary delights for jockeys who have competed at the racecourse. On Paterson's menu is hot buttered crab with stuffed, baked codfish, while Dickson Wright cooks up green beans with mustard, and rhubarb barmbrack.

Before setting off with friends to the greyhound track in Walthamstow, north-east London, Jamie Oliver cooks an hors d'oeuvre consisting of farfalle with Savoy cabbage, pancetta, pine nuts and mozzarella cheese. For the main course he cooks tray-baked pork chops, herby potatoes, parsnips and pears, adds a minted bread sauce, and rustles up custard tarts to eat at the track. See Choice.
