The songs of composer Burt Bacharach have carved the veteran of easy listening a niche in music history and won him generations of admirers since, 40 years ago, Magic Moments sung by Perry Como became his first hit.
This documentary takes a look at the life and work of a prolific popular song writer who worked with stars such as Dusty Springfield - seen here singing The Look of Love - Dionne Warwick - who in another archive clip performs Walk On By, and Marlene Dietrich.
He won an Oscar for his work on the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, enjoyed stage success with Promises, Promises, and his catalogue of classics - including This Guy's in Love with You, Close to You and Say a Little Prayer - continues to influence contemporary music.
Narrated by Dusty Springfield, this film profile includes interviews with long-time songwriting partner Hal David, Richard Carpenter, Elvis Costello and Noel Gallagher of Oasis.
