Scotland, riding high after a series of home victories, and with a settled forward unit, were determined to avenge last year's defeat at Twickenham in which England produced brilliant back play. For in the highlands of New Guinea a family's prestige is measured by the number of cassowaries they capture and raise, and their worth by the selflessness with which they offer the birds for sacrifice.
