Design Review: Choosing Your Chairs
Chosen from The Design Centre and discussed by Moira Hallifax and a designer.
The Design Centre, situated in Haymarket, London, S.W.I, is the Council of Industrial Design's permanent exhibition of goods selected for their high standard of "design-using design", that is, in its fundamental sense to embrace good materials, good workmanship and appearance, and functional efficiency. Examples of most of the things needed in the home and office are shown there, and all of them are available in the shops. Nothing is actually sold in the Centre itself, but there is an information service to answer visitors' enquiries and, as far as possible, to put them in touch with retailers in their locality.
