A play by Marie Fawcett.
Adapted for television by Moultrie R. Kelsall.

Nervous people should not let themselves be misled by the merriment with which this play begins. It is a blood-curdling piece which makes a series of sharp, little assaults on the emotions. It begins cheerfully for the scene is a party which Mr. Betts, the watch-maker, has enjoyed and is continuing to enjoy. He is among those who cluster around Mrs. Turner from upstairs as she turns over the cards, telling fortunes. Her predictions are lurid but amusing-until she comes to Mr. Betts. And then the key changes, the merriment departs, and Mr. Betts runs away.
