Mo Dutta expores the history and development of Asian music in Britain. He traces the genre's origins from the influx of music in the 1970s from the subcontinent to Birmingham, which now forms the epicentre of the Asian music world. The programme explores the exchange of influences both to and from the east, and includes input from DJ/composer Nitin Sawhney - who has combined Rachmaninov with Raga - and Sheila Chandra , who, with the band Monsoon, took the Asian sound into the pop mainstream here in 1982 with the number-12 hit Ever
So Lonely. Plus interviews with current British-Asian star Jay Sean and the bhangra trio DCS. Producer John Collins
